Readiness Assessment

Know What You're Walking Into Before You Migrate

A migration shouldn't be the event that reveals your infrastructure problems. The Citadel Exchange Online Migration Readiness Assessment evaluates the technical health and prerequisites that can determine whether your migration proceeds predictably—or encounters preventable problems after the project is already underway.

  • Exchange Server Health & Configuration — version, patching, services, certificates, databases, mail flow, migration endpoints and related configuration.
  • Active Directory & DNS Health — replication, DNS, identity attributes, UPN configuration and synchronization prerequisites.
  • Identity & Microsoft Entra — directory synchronization, authentication approach and identity readiness.
  • Network & Connectivity — firewall requirements, HTTPS/SMTP accessibility, bandwidth and migration traffic considerations.
  • Microsoft 365 & Exchange Online — tenant configuration, domain readiness, licensing assumptions and destination prerequisites.
  • Migration Dependencies & Complexity — mailbox volumes, shared/resource mailboxes, public folders, archives, SMTP/application dependencies and coexistence requirements.

GREEN — Migration Ready

No material technical blockers were identified that prevent proceeding toward the planned migration.

YELLOW — Remediation Required

The migration is viable, but specific conditions should or must be corrected before affected migration activities proceed.

RED — Significant Remediation Required

Material environmental conditions should be resolved before proceeding with migration.

The goal is simple: find the problems before the migration finds them for you.
